Confusion as to who is the Anti-Messiah

It appears that there are two main factions of Christians as far as identifying the Anti-Messiah prophesied in the Bible. There are those who say it's the Pope (Roman Catholic Church) and others are saying it's Islam. Just as an aside - it is anti-Christ, meaning "in the place of" - who says they are the Vicar of Christ etc. on earth and who changes YHUH's law?
