Isaiah 8 and 9 have instances where prophetic names are used to denote future events.
Also of interest, few know that the word "disciple" is used twice in Isaiah 8, which is applicable to Yahushua's time in the future.
8:16 Bind up the testimony, seal the instruction among my disciples.
Anyway, back to prophetic names.
Isa 8:1 Moreover YHUH said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.
Isa 8:2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
Isa 8:3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said YHUH to me, call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.
Isa 8:4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz means "The spoil speedeth, the prey hasteth". It is a prophecy for Hezekiah's time, 'oh Immanuel' (refer to my article ), referring to the Assyrian invasion.
Most importantly then, the following verse is often misquoted and distorted by many to make a case that Yahushua is YHUH. The Son cannot be the Father. The begotten cannot be the source. As follows from the Masoretic Text:
Isaiah 9:5 For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pelez-joez-el-gibbor-abi-ad-sar-shalom.
Pelez-joez-el-gibbor-abi-ad-sar-shalom is the name of the government on Yahushua's shoulder.
Just as the image below shows with soldiers wearing shoulder insignia on their uniforms:
Translated,Pelez-joez-el-gibbor-abi-ad-sar-shalom means "Wonderful in counsel is YHUH the mighty, the everlasting Father, the ruler of Shalom". Not that Yahushua is the everlasting Father or anything else attributed to YHUH.
For the twisted version, King James reads as follows:
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Huh.
Well, now you know. What you do with it is up to you.
